I could try to list the countless times AVRH has saved my husband and relieved his suffering, but I will just use the word NUMEROUS!!! The Emergency Department is filled with the best of the best. Med Surg also filled to the brim with talent and HEART... If you are in Las Vegas, NM and are in need of emergent care or a Hospital stay this is the answer. Just think, it is the scariest moment in your life and a small town hospital filled with amazing people just waiting to make a difference. You walk in holding tears back, heart pounding and you are greeted by a compassionate Emergency Room receptionist. She not only comforts you by helping with registration but hands you a tissue, offers a bottle of water or cup of coffee, AND doesn't ask for money right away, she lets you get situated and get you or your loved one taken care of FIRST!!!
My husband went in for an x-ray on a Friday morning at 8:00. No one in the waiting area, no one in the halls. Only person is the registration person. 20 minutes before the girl got off the phone -talking with her husband it seems, then with a sucker still in her mouth finally registered my husband. Went to x ray and sat and waited and waited. For a two view chest x-ray two hours!!!! Unbelievable! Staff is very rude and they make you feel like you are bothering them...
The hospital took care of business and met my expectations.
went into the e.r. early morning. doctor came to see us about 30 minutes later and said they would take care of the situation and bring medications to help . 2 hours later and no sign of a nurse or doctor mean while the alarm on the vitals machine was going off the whole time. got fed up and headed out the door. nurses didnt ask why we were leaving and just said " let me get the door"... just another expected visit to alta vista.... saddens me to know that if this keeps its course, that hospital will not be here much longer for the folks of vegas.
The only reason I am giving them 1 star is because the x-ray tech who worked with me was very nice. However, I have been trying to resolve an issue with my bill, with the hospital and my insurance company - good luck talking to someone in the billing department!! No one EVER answers the phone, and you can't leave a message because all of their mailboxes are full. If you get lucky enough to get an extension that you can leave a message on, they won't call you back anyway, so don't bother. I work in Las Vegas and everyone at work said "Don't go to Alta Vista, they are crooks and they have poor service. I defended the hospital and said that I was sure it would be fine. Never again will I walk in those doors. I will drive to Santa Fe before I will go there again! Terrible service, shame on you!!!
great place, had ankle surgery. My doctor is a great doctor and humanitarian, dr. Rockwood.
It makes me want to pay! Thank you AVRH the small town hospital with a HUGE heart! Also after reading some of the unflattering reviews I would like to say, whatever you EXPECT people to be at this Hospital keep an open mind, you just may be amazed when you give them a chance. Remember they SHOW UP every day no matter how they struggle personally. They show up for us, to make a difference, I have seen housekeepers rush to help someone who is ill. If you look at AVRH with a fresh pair of eyes, you too will be rewarded. Love these wonderful people One million stars!
