The best part for me, as a self employed mother and serial volunteer, is the ability to complete upper level classwork in an online environment, without sacrificing the quality of the education. The ability to replay a lecture, get instant feedback with online testing and submit work electronically has made this a far superior learning environment.
The undergraduate business program at NMHU is a hidden gem. It is also one of the most affordable programs I have found. The staff is so knowledgeable in their fields and extremely willing to answer questions you may have regarding what classes to take in order to best prepare you for your future goals. Classes are small within the department, allowing for a great learning experience. Professors have wide ranges of expertise and experience in the business field and are always willing to give guidance regarding education and career goals. I was incredibly lucky to find it.
Education (teaching)department division is the same way.Completely unprofessional behavior from education instructors.Obvious signs of favor to certain students. One male professor was called out by other students displaying rude behavior towards a student after online class.Obvious disorder seen in staff. If your in town maybe worth it but distance learning was a disaster.
Science department had a good. re pore with my organic chem teacher he was fantastic when I met him for summer school. They recently reorganized some programs cant say much on that department.
I really have enjoyed my experience at New Mexico Highland University. The first and most part that I like about Highlands University is the quality education that they provide for such an adorable rate. I really like how nice and helpful all the staff have been. One of the major positives for me was in the bookstore they give you the option to either buy or rent your books which was a lot more affordable for me. Another major advantage that Highlands provided me with was distance learning courses. My only complaint would be that getting a hold of staff is a littler harder or takes a little longer sometimes. And their website needs work to be more user friendly. Overall Highland University was a very positive experience for me. And I would recommend anybody to consider getting their education at highlands New Mexico University.
Each and every person I have interacted with at the university, from the registrar's office to the technology help desk to the staff at my local branch campus seem to genuinely care about the success of student. The professors are knowledgeable, and add real world experience to the curriculum. They go out of the way to ensure the each student gets everything they want to out of the class. They also crave feedback, and appreciate ways to improve what they are teaching. That was a refreshing change from academics who are certain they already know everything.
Despite being originally apprehensive about the small campus, I was almost immediately won over by the friendliness and support of NMHU School of Business professors and staffs. Almost all of the classes are infinitely interesting and professors here genuinely care about their students. Online classes give a great opportunity for non-traditional students to pursue higher education in a more accessible way. The department on the main campus gives off a warm and friendly feel where professors, staffs, and students know each other and that we are a part of this great community. I am given so many opportunities here that I would not be able to acquire should I have gone to a different university. For that, I am forever grateful.
I have had a great experience at NMHU.
MIddle of nowhere..Garbage institution. If your doing a distance learning class their reckless and useless.Their financial aid office is lazy don't show up to work, or leave early.Had to hound them to get paper work done. They have to be tracked down due to small town worth ethic of complacency.
